Our History
Grace Church Elizabethtown (GCE) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, began in February 1999, with a group of families who desired to establish a reformed church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The group began meeting on Sunday evenings for Bible study and fellowhip, and the name Grace Reformed Fellowship was adopted. For several years, monthly worship was held under the leadership of Rev. Vincent Kuo. That increased to weekly worship, and Grace Reformed Fellowship became Grace Reformed Church. Seeking permanent pastoral leadership, the Great Lakes Presbytery granted recognition of the church plant with Rev. Peter Bartuska assisting, and in 2002 Mr. Jerry Williams was hired to conduct weekly services.
In January 2008, after a year-long pastoral search, Mr. David Atkisson was installed as Interim Pastor. Later, in July 2008, the Ohio Valley Presbytery conducted services in Elizabethtown to particularize Grace Reformed Church; the first Pastor, ruling elders and deacons were also installed at that time. The church’s name was changed one last time in 2011, to Grace Church Elizabethtown.
For nearly twenty years, Grace Church Elizabethtown met in rented facilities. Then, in 2019, GCE purchased a building on five acres and moved to its current location on the south side of Elizabethtown. Generous giving by the congregation made the purchase possible.
In 2020, our current pastor, Monty Hershberger, was called. Rev. Hershberger was installed as pastor on March 8, 2020.
God has been faithful to this congregation over many years. To Him we must give all praise and glory!
